The heavens declare our glorious God
And skies make known His mighty sovereignty,
For day by day, they whisper words abroad,
And night by night display His majesty.
And though the heavens utter voiceless words
And men lean near to hear the silent sounds,
Creation’s testament is seen and heard,
Still reaching all the universe unbound.
The heavens are God’s palace for the sun,
Emerging from it’s chamber like a groom
Or like the joyous victor in his run.
It proudly rises from it’s eastern room
And courses heaven to a western meet.
Rejoice, for none is hidden from its heat.
The perfect law of God revives my soul.
His statutes that I trust make children wise.
His righteous precepts make all my joy whole.
His pure commands enlighten both my eyes.
The perfect fear of God I’ll keep, I’ll hold.
Decrees of love from God are righteous tomes.
More precious is Your word than treasures gold,
And sweeter than the honey from its comb.
By Your word, I Your servant am forewarned,
Forgetting not for there is great reward.
Who sees their wicked ways and quickly mourn?
Forgive, forgive my secret sins, O Lord!
Protect me from those sins that would control.
I want to be innocent heart and soul.
May all the words I mouth and all I write
And all my heart and mind have dreamed
Be pleasing, God, within Your endless sight,
My God, my Friend who has redeemed.
