Psalm 3

Yes, enemies surround me, Lord.
They are a frightful, monstrous horde
Who say dumb things they think are true
Then laugh, “God will not rescue you!”
But You are my glorious shield
Who raises my head though I kneel.
My God hears when I cry aloud
From His mountain beyond the clouds.
I lay myself to dream-filled sleep,
For when I wake, my life He keeps.
One thousand foes I will not fear
Although they come to harm, to jeer.
Arise my God, my Love, my Lord
Against the ones who come to war.
Grip them to slap them in the face.
Make their smiles a toothless disgrace!
Salvation comes from God’s great hand
And blessings on those in His land!
