Psalm 80

Draw near to Israel, O great I Am,
Who lead Your people like the lambs.
May You, enthroned above the cherubim
Before the lands of Ephraim,
Manasseh and in Benjamin – awake!
Arise in might to come and save!
Restore us, God, and cause Your face to shine,
Then I’ll be saved by God divine.

How long, O Lord God, will Your anger flare
Against Your people’s daily prayers?
You’ve fed us with our tears like eating bread
And made us gulp the tears we shed.
Among the nations, treatment is severe.
You let them laugh at us and sneer!
Restore us Elohim, let Your face shine,
For I am saved by God divine.

A vine from Egypt, chosen to uproot.
You then took lands to plant this shoot,
Preparing soil as You cleared and tilled
And once planted, the land was filled.
You covered mighty mountains with its shade,
As were the cedars that God made.
The branches shot out far upon the sea,
And roots did drink from Euphrates.
But in this garden, walls are broken down.
The fruit is thieved by those from town!
Wild boars arrive from woods just to devour,
And vermin feast on fruit all hours.
Come back, O God, for it’s You that we pine!
From heaven, prune and tend this vine.
The one You planted with Your own right hand.
The branch, the son, that You have planned.
The cuts and burns committed by our foes!
Rebuke those men with words of woe.
Affirm that One who stands just to Your right –
The Son of Man with strength and light.
So then I’ll never turn away in shame.
Revive! So I can call Your name!
Restore us Yahweh – I see Your face shine!
I know I’m saved by God divine!
